Changsha Holds Symposium to Serve Overseas Chinese Enterprises

Changsha City held a symposium regarding overseas Chinese enterprises. According to the meeting, there are more than one thousand overseas Chinese enterprises in the city, whose paid-in capital has accumulated to 9.3 billion USD in the past five years, accounting for over 77% of the total overseas investment. Wen Shuxun, director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, and Changsha Vice Mayor, Zhang Yingchun attended the meeting.

According to an official from the Changsha Returned Overseas Chinese Federation, Changsha has attracted numerous overseas Chinese experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs, who have made great achievements in talent cultivation, scientific and technological progress, and economic development. For example, Dr. Dai Lizhong, member of the national "Thousand Talents Program", set up the Sansure Biotech Inc., whose products emerged in the international molecular diagnosis and filled the gap in China's local industry. Hunan C-Kingdom Cable Co., Ltd. and its holding subsidiaries, funded by overseas Chinese Mao Binghua, have realized an annual output value of 5.015 billion yuan and paid annual taxes of 215 million yuan, becoming a large tax payer in Changsha.

Mr. Wen emphasized that efforts should be made to create a favorable environment for investment with better services for overseas Chinese. Relevant institutions should pave the way to the development of high quality overseas Chinese enterprises. Mr. Zhang proposed requirements for tackling problems encountered in the development of such enterprises and promoting their sustainable development.
